EUROGATE Container Terminal Wilhelmshaven is enhancing its competitiveness. Not only from the water-side, but from the land-side, too, Germany’s only deep-water container port is an interesting alternative to other seaport locations in terms of both time and cost. One reason is that the EUROGATE Group rail operators EUROGATE Intermodal (EGIM) and ACOS Group are offering hinterland connections to/from Wilhelmshaven at the same fair prices as to/from the two other German seaports Bremerhaven and Hamburg. Via the EGIM and Acos transport networks, any destination in Germany and its neighbouring European countries can be reached within the scope of customised solutions. Together with its partner ACOS Group, EUROGATE has also set up a rail shuttle service to facilitate container transhipments from
Wilhelmshaven via Bremen to Hamburg (and v.v.).
The rail operators EGIM and ACOS Group confirm that they have aligned their prices for container transports to/from Wilhelmshaven with the level of their respective prices on the routes to/from Bremerhaven and Hamburg. This enhances the competitiveness of the deep-water port, which went into operation on 21 September last year. Similar costs mean that port customers can orient their decision process towards the advantages of the respective location. For Wilhelmshaven these are: time savings thanks to a short approach channel and time savings thanks to uncongested traffic routes.
Guaranteed arrival times in Bremen and Hamburg
Together with its partner ACOS Group, EUROGATE provides a container shuttle rail service from Wilhelmshaven to Bremen and Hamburg (and v.v.) in order to facilitate any necessary container transhipments. In future at the EUROGATE Container Terminal Wilhelmshaven containers with Bremen and Hamburg as their destination can be transferred onto a rail shuttle for onward forwarding immediately after being unloaded from the ship Containers reach the port of Hamburg within a guaranteed time of 24 hours.
