HAROPA groups together the ports of Le Havre, Rouen and Paris, thus constituting one of the most efficient transport systems for the maritime gateway to Europe. The 18,000 Asian customers, readers of Cargonews Asia newspaper, the leader of the professional press in Asia, re-elected HAROPA best European seaport for the year 2013. The award has just been presented in Beijing, on the occasion of a ceremony in presence of the major Asian stakeholders, by John Cheetham, Asia Pacific Regional Commercial Manager of IAG Cargo to Christophe Cheyroux, Greater China Representative for HAROPA.
A choice made by the Asian professionals of transport and logistics for the 3rd time
Closed in March 2013, some 18,000 readers took part in the poll, with among them importers-exporters, logisticians, freight forwarders and shipping lines present in Asia (China, Singapore, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Thailand, South Korea, Malaysia…). HAROPA was selected among eight major European ports including Hamburg, Rotterdam and Antwerp.
An award which is an honor to all companies of Le Havre, Rouen and Paris port communities
« First of all, I wish to thank all Asian actors of the shipping and logistics world who made the choice, for the third year running, to reaffirm their confidence to us and thus prove that we bring a real added value to our customers throughout the world » Hervé Martel – Chairman of the Management Board of the Grand Port Maritime du Havre and HAROPA Vice-chairman – declared. « This confirmation of the service quality offered by all actors of the logistics chain is great pride for my teams and all customers and players of HAROPA, as they have their efforts rewarded on the international shipping scene. Our actions bear fruit. Our ambitions now go beyond within the scope of the new dynamic move inspired by HAROPA: the top French port complex grouping together the ports of Le Havre, Rouen and Paris ».
Renewed ambitions within HAROPA, a global logistics solution
Ideally located at the entrance to the North-European range, HAROPA offers optimal conditions for world shipping owing to a dense network of liner shipping services and a position as the 1st port of call on import or last port of call on export on many shipping services. The fine distribution of the European market is carried out by means of direct and fluid connections by short-sea, rail, waterway and road. The biggest vessels can be operated there: 300 sea giants were then received in 2012 in the port of Le Havre, which concentrates the biggest world shipping lines and connects Asia with Europe owing to competitive transit times and a frequency of 2 services per day on this trade route. Growing trade with Asia accounts for 56 % of the market shares of the port of Le Havre in 2012. Cargo transit is facilitated by simplified and rapid customs procedures: an electronic and customs one-stop shop, a cargo customs clearance taking less than 5 minutes and 99 % without physical inspection. The alliance of the ports of Le Havre, Rouen and Paris under the aegis of HAROPA – which is referred to as a competitive transport system – strengthens their position in the major international logistics and maritime flows.
